Rev. Dr. Al Moore is the esteemed Pastor of the First Memorial Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and the husband to the lovely, Lady Shanine H. Moore.
He is a loving husband, compassionate pastor and a powerful preacher; an accomplished teacher and anointed worship leader; musician and songwriter, who has traveled across the United States sharing the love of Jesus! He says that there is no place he would rather be than “dwelling in the secret place of the Most High.” (Psalm 91:1) He says that the Gospel is “Good News”, and therefore should always be presented as hope,
light and restoration. He also says that “God’s people need to be exhorted and admonished to reach their highest potential in the kingdom, because it is our birthright as believers.”
Dr. Moore has distinguished himself as a professional educator through his work with Jefferson County Schools, Jefferson State Community College, Alabama Public Television, Alabama Power Company and Bevill State Community College. A highlight of his career was being invited to attend the first White House Forum on Economic Development, under the administration of President Barack Obama. He has been featured in the Birmingham News for his role as both a pastor and college administrator and in Birmingham Magazine, as a Top Executive for the 2013 Wells Fargo Best in Minority Business Award. Most recently, he was featured in the September 2013 edition of the Alabama Community College Association Journal, for his various honors. In June 2019, Dr. Moore was named the 2019 Pastor of the Year, by the Gospel Choice Music Awards in Atlanta, GA.
He is actively engaged with the Birmingham Business Alliance, East Walker County Chamber of Commerce (past board member), The Chamber of Commerce of Walker County (board member), The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, American Cancer Society of Central Alabama (board member) National Education Association, Alabama Education Association, Mt. Pilgrim Baptist District Association, Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention, and National Baptist Convention, U.S.A.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, a Master of Science Degree in Post-Secondary Education and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Ministry. He also completed post-graduate studies at the Education Policy Center at The University of Alabama and the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University.
Above all of his accomplishments, he understands that the most crucial element to his very existence is the Lord Jesus Christ and a relationship with HIM. He is a born-again, Holy Spirit inspired, minister of the Gospel!
